Role Summary:
Our branch offices at multiple locations are looking for experienced Sprinkler Designers to join the Fire Sprinkler Contract and Service team. The main duties of this role are designing automatic sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. This role involves preparing detailed plans and specifications to ensure compliance with local, provincial and national codes and standards. The target market are customers in the commercial, industrial, hospitality and healthcare industries.
Requirements:
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience designing fire sprinkler systems.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Specific training or certification in sprinkler system design may also be required.
- Experience working in a consulting engineering environment or with a fire protection contractor.
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience with project management.
- Strong skills in AutoCAD and/or other design calculation software (I.e.: HydroCaD) along with familiarity with simulation and modeling tools. Knowledge of hydraulic calculations and fluid dynamics is essential. 3D Revit design is also an asset.
- Precision and care in creating design plans and specifications. Technician Design layout experience is preferred
- In-depth knowledge of fire codes, regulations, and standards (; NFPA/NBC Building codes).
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and communicate complex fire protection concepts and solutions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and positive attitude.
- Self-motivated with a results-driven approach to achieving targets.
- Strong knowledge of computer based applications (Microsoft Office Suite etc.)
- Must have a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities:
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Design and Planning - Plan and create detailed designs of sprinkler systems tailored to the specific needs of each project. This includes water supply calculations, sprinkler head and piping layouts, along with appropriate sprinkler head selection.
- Drafting and Modeling - Create accurate and detailed drawings, schematics, and 3D models using computer-aided design (AutoCAD) software and other specialized software.
- Compliance and Standards - Ensure all designs comply with Local, Provincial and Federal standards, along with NFPA code requirements.
- Project Management and Procurements - Manage projects from initial phases through to completion, including budgeting, material/equipment procurements and coordinating with other professionals and stakeholders. This includes attending various project meetings as required.
- Project Documentation - Maintains records storage as per best practices, completes project close out documentation as per company systems
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate and effective design.
- Conduct hydraulic calculations and analysis to ensure system performance and compliance.
- Review and interpret fire protection codes and standards.
- Prepare submittals and project documentation for approval by authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
- Assist in the preparation of project bids and cost estimates.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and verify installation accuracy. Provide technical support and guidance to installation teams during the construction phase.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Other duties as required.
